Create a Project
A project in Apptonomy represents one app across both stores. You add the app’s App Store listing, its Google Play listing, or both, and everything else — audits, keywords, the live listing, notifications — hangs off that project. Create one when you start work on a new app.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You need the Owner or Admin role in the organization. Members can’t create projects.
- Your plan needs an available project slot. If you’re already at your plan’s project limit, the New Project button shows an upgrade prompt and the wizard won’t open — see Plans & entitlements.
- Have the app in mind. You can find it by name, paste a store URL, or connect store credentials during setup. None of that is required to finish — you can skip credential linking and add it later.
Open the wizard
Section titled “Open the wizard”- Go to your organization’s Projects list.
- Click New Project.
The wizard opens in a dialog titled Create Project. A one-line reminder under the heading states that each project represents one app across its App Store and Google Play listings.
Walk the wizard
Section titled “Walk the wizard”1. Find your app
Section titled “1. Find your app”The first step asks What app? and gives you three tabs:
- App Search — type the app name into Search for your app by name. Results show the icon, developer, and which store each result is on. Pick one.
- Listing URL — paste an App Store or Google Play listing URL. Use this when search doesn’t surface the app.
- Unpublished App — for apps not yet on a store. This path is marked Support Coming Soon, so use App Search or Listing URL for now.
After you pick a result, a confirm card appears with a region and language picker. Adjust the App Store region or Play Store country/language if the defaults are wrong, then continue. New search clears the selection if you picked the wrong app.
2. Connect store credentials (optional)
Section titled “2. Connect store credentials (optional)”Apptonomy offers to connect your store account for the app you just chose. Connecting unlocks reading your live listing details, publishing approved changes, and analytics. You can connect now or skip and do it later from project settings.

3. Add the other store (optional)
Section titled “3. Add the other store (optional)”Next the wizard asks Add a {store} listing? (naming the opposite store from the one you entered). A project can hold both an App Store and a Google Play listing for complete cross-store coverage.
- Click Add {store} Listing to add it. Apptonomy looks up the matching app on the other store in the background, so the next screen is often pre-filled for a one-click confirm. You can still search, paste a URL, or adjust region and language.
- Skip if this app only ships on one store.
If you add the second store, you get the same optional credential-connect step for it.
4. Name the project
Section titled “4. Name the project”The wizard suggests a name derived from the app’s store listing. Keep it or type your own in Enter project name. This is the name you’ll see in the project switcher and lists.
5. Choose an audit cadence
Section titled “5. Choose an audit cadence”On Automated Audits, pick how often Apptonomy re-runs the ASO audit and emails the results to your organization: Off, Monthly, Biweekly, Weekly, or Daily.
- Available cadences depend on your plan. Faster cadences require a plan that includes them; the wizard only shows the ones you’re entitled to and defaults to the fastest available.
- When enabled, audits run at 6:00 AM UTC on the chosen cadence, and reports go to everyone in your organization.
- If your plan doesn’t include automated audits, the step says so and you can still run audits manually anytime.
You can change this later in the project’s scheduled-audits settings.
6. Review and create
Section titled “6. Review and create”The summary shows a card for each store you added, with its listing details and whether credentials are linked or not linked. Click Create Project.
Verify it worked
Section titled “Verify it worked”The project is created and you land on its Watchtower dashboard. The new project appears in the project switcher and the organization’s project list. If you connected credentials, the store shows as linked; if you skipped, you can connect from settings later.

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”You’re at your plan’s project limit. The wizard is gated before it opens so you don’t build a project you can’t save. Upgrade or free a slot, then retry. See Plans & entitlements.
Search can't find my app
Switch to the Listing URL tab and paste the app’s App Store or Google Play listing URL. New or region-limited listings sometimes aren’t in the search index yet, but the URL path resolves them directly.
The confirm card shows the wrong region or language
Use the region and language picker above the confirm card to set the correct storefront before continuing. Apptonomy pulls the listing text from the storefront you select here.
I closed the wizard and lost my progress
Once you’ve selected the first app, closing the wizard asks you to confirm before discarding. If you confirm, progress is cleared and you start over. Nothing is saved until you click Create Project on the final step.
