Author Custom Discovery Prompts
The AI Discovery engine runs a calibrated battery of questions past several AI assistants and measures how often your app comes up. Custom Discovery Prompts let you add your own questions to that run — the specific things you want to know your app surfaces for.
You’ll author them in the project’s Settings → Brand Identity tab, in the Custom Discovery Prompts card.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Custom Discovery Prompts require a plan that includes them. On plans that don’t, the card doesn’t appear. See Plans and entitlements.
- Each plan sets how many prompts a project can have. The card shows your usage as a used-of-limit counter (for example, 2 of 5).
- You need editor access to the project.
Add a prompt

Section titled “1. Open the Custom Discovery Prompts card”Go to Settings → Brand Identity and scroll to Custom Discovery Prompts.
2. Add a prompt
Section titled “2. Add a prompt”Click Add prompt and type your question — for example, What is the best app for tracking workouts?. Prompts run verbatim, up to 500 characters each. Add prompt disables once you reach your plan’s limit.
3. Phrase it as a discovery question
Section titled “3. Phrase it as a discovery question”Write the prompt the way a real user would ask an AI assistant. If the text doesn’t read like a question, the card shows an advisory note — it never blocks you, but question-shaped prompts tend to work better because that’s how the assistants are queried.
4. Set active or inactive
Section titled “4. Set active or inactive”Each prompt has an Active toggle. Only active prompts run on an audit. Turn a prompt off to keep it in your list without running it.
5. Save
Section titled “5. Save”Click Save. Blank prompts are dropped on save; the rest persist on the project and run on your next audit — including scheduled audits.
How custom prompts run
Section titled “How custom prompts run”On each audit, active custom prompts go through the same query-and-analyze path as the standard battery: they’re sent to the same set of AI assistants, and each response is parsed for whether your app was mentioned, where it ranked, the sentiment, and which competitors came up. Unlike the standard battery, custom prompts are run exactly as written — there’s no install-intent filtering, so you can test any phrasing you want.
The results land in a custom prompt analysis section of the audit, separate from the calibrated numbers. You get the per-prompt and per-assistant breakdown for your own questions without any of it feeding the headline AI Discovery metrics.
Verify it worked
Section titled “Verify it worked”After saving, the card lists your prompts with their active state and an updated used-of-limit counter. On the next audit, each active prompt appears in the custom prompt analysis with its per-assistant results.
Troubleshooting

Section titled “The Custom Discovery Prompts card isn’t there”The feature is plan-gated. If your plan doesn’t include custom prompts, the card is hidden entirely. See Plans and entitlements.
Add prompt is disabled
Section titled “Add prompt is disabled”You’ve hit your plan’s per-project limit — the counter shows red at the cap. Delete a prompt to free a slot, or move to a plan with a higher limit.
I saved but nothing ran
Section titled “I saved but nothing ran”Only active prompts run, and blank prompts are discarded on save. Confirm the prompt has text and its toggle is set to Active, then run an audit.
